AN INTRODUCTION
Course Overview
The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course provides essential first aid training for individuals designated as first aiders in low-risk workplaces or as a supplement to a full First Aid at Work provision.
This one-day course meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 and equips participants with the skills to manage emergency situations safely and effectively.
This face to face course will be delivered by one of our highly experienced and engaging Paramedic instructors. Using their real life experiences, they are able to bring this course to life ensuring that all delegates are able to feel confident and competent upon completion of the course.
Training will be adapted to suit the learning needs of the delegates so that everybody has the same opportunities to succeed and includes a mixture of theoretical and practical elements.
The day runs for 6 hours with regular breaks included. Timings can be flexible to suit the needs of the client.

This course is ideal for individuals appointed as emergency first aiders in low-risk environments (e.g., offices, retail, and small businesses). It is also suitable for anyone looking to gain basic first aid skills.
COURSE CONTENT
What Will You Learn
You will understand the roles and responsibilities of an emergency first aider. You will learn how to confidently assess and manage a range of injuries, medical emergencies and how to safely use a defibrillator when providing life support until professional help arrives.

This course reviews key topics from the First Aid at Work Course including:
- The Role of the Emergency First Aider
- Responsibilities, communication, incident management
- Preventing cross-infection (use of gloves, barrier devices, and hygiene practices)
- Recording incidents and reporting requirements
- Assessing Emergency Situations
- Conducting a primary survey and prioritising actions
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Performing CPR and using an AED
- Managing an Unconscious Casualty
- Dealing with Seizures
- Choking and Airway Obstructions
- Bleeding and Wound Management
- Shock and Circulatory Issues
- Minor Injuries (cuts, grazes, bruises, and burns)
- First Aid Equipment and Incident Recording
